Plumpton Rocks

Plumpton Rocks are part of Plumpton Park which is on the Harrogate road, 30 minutes drive from York, near Follifoot. There is a small fee to go into the park and it is only open to the public at week-ends from March to October.
There is actually a public footpath that runs through the park and several other woodland walks nearby but I would highly recommend paying the small fee and walking around the lake and the rocks because the site is remarkably beautiful, ancient and has been preserved in it's natural state. The ancient trees and rock formations are spectacular and it would help to have a super-wide lens to photograph them (which I didn't have with me on this day).
It takes about an hour to wander around the lake and through the wooded area and there is an overwhelming feeling of age and calm. The rocky areas are overgrown with ancient yew trees and beeches and are quite cool on a hot summer's day.
