Portraits
I know of no other genre of photography that teaches so much in terms of narrative and aesthetics. It involves the endless fascination and variety of facial expression and the challenge of capturing some intimate essence of the person behind the face. Also, the study of light passing and enveloping a complex three dimensional form.
Groups impose a different discipline and for me are at their best in an ad-hoc informal formation.
All portraits involve careful and relaxed interaction and split-second decisions if they are to look natural and spontaneous.
