Beauty of Light 3: Contre-Jour
I have vivid boyhood memories of looking into the sun shining down through trees, or reflecting off water or glass. I found this to be an intriguing experience. Recently, I decided to explore this experience by photographing into the light in both rural and urban situations.
I aimed to capture a variety of phenomena such as reflected city light, sunbursts in woodland, or sun breaking through mist and through the cloud of passing storms.
I explored the beauty of light shining behind trees and plants, creating striking black profiles over a vividly coloured background. A person in this setting often created an enigmatic character, inviting narrative.
Some of the resulting images are gathered here, though many sit comfortably in other portfolios and are spread throughout the website.
