Abstraction

Abstraction is basically the process of removing recognisable features from something to reduce it to some set of essential characteristics. In art, this frees the resulting image from representational qualities. Without these qualities of reference, a viewer’s mind tends to focus on other aspects of the images, such as light, shadow, form and composition.
For me, it is one of the most elegant genres of photography; one I’ve followed with an extensive, ongoing portfolio. These are some examples.
