Non-destructive working in Layers page 1

Non-destructive working in Layers page 1 - Tutorials - creative Photoshop technique
This is page 1 of a 6 page tutorial which illustrates how to work non-destructively by using Layers. It shows how to set up the Layers Palette and add such effects as Shadows and Highlights filter, film grain, Black and White Adjustment layer and a sharpening layer. This first page shows the Layers Palette and explains what the various buttons mean.

If you are not familiar with working in layers then I would recommend working through the previous tutorial and this one before any of the others. All of the others depend upon knowing these techniques.
