Kirby Underdale

Kirby Underdale - New Photographic Walks 2017
Kirby Underdale is about 30 minutes drive from York along the A166. At the top of Garrowby Hill there is a parking space on the left (indicated here in red) for about 4 cars.

Walk about 50 yards further along the road and take the first left down the farm track. This track runs all the way to Kirby Underdale. There are many ancient majestic trees on the way down and also a wide beautiful view over the valley. I went on a sunny afternoon in January and so managed to capture some of the beautiful light. It's about 1.25 miles to Kirby Underdale and so the whole walk is about 2.5 miles, though a little steep on the way back up.

I've marked the walk that I took in purple on the map illustrated here and it's easy to extend this walk up the other side of the valley with several paths to choose from. The full map can be seen on the OS website here:
